Springing into Oestara

A few weeks ago I pruned a branch from the fruit tree in my front yard.  I stuck it in a vase of water and this week it bloomed!

My family is likewise blooming.  My son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first baby in April.  I just finished knitting them this baby blanket, appropriately named the baby tree of life throw.  The pattern can be found here:Baby tree of life throw at Lionbrand.com.  Here's a close up of the tree:

As we set our clocks ahead next week and return to darker mornings for a while, remember, Spring is on its way!

  1. I love the forced blooms! I remember reading about that once, but I don’t have a fruit tree to prune... do you think any tree would work? I love checking in on your blog and seeing the seasons turn. The baby blanket is beautiful, and the pattern looks so intricate! I’m impressed!
Let’s get together soon, maybe a walk at lunch one day?

    1. Thanks, Cyndi! Yes, I do think any tree would work - I remember starting an avocado seed pretty much the same way. Thanks for the complement on the blanket - it was a bit complicated at first but not by the time I was done! And it was cool making a tree! A walk would be wonderful! I should be free most of next week if you want to pick a day!
